Gideon Mensah Encourages Ghanaian Teammates Ahead of Must-Win AFCON Qualifier

Defender Gideon Mensah is calling for more from his teammates as Ghana is in danger of missing out on the AFCON for the first time in twenty years.

Gideon Mensah, the defender for the Black Stars, has rallied his teammates by highlighting the value of tenacity and resolve in their attempt to salvage their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

After going four games without a win, the Black Stars are in dire need of a turnaround as their chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON are now in jeopardy.

Gideon Mensah, the defender for the Black Stars, has inspired his teammates by highlighting the value of tenacity and resolve in their attempt to salvage their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

After going four games without a win, the Black Stars are in dire need of a turnaround as their chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON are now in jeopardy.

On Friday night, the Black Stars play Angola in a game that might decide their fate; a loss or a draw would be their first AFCON qualification loss since 2004.

Mensah acknowledged the difficulties the Black Stars face in an interview, but he maintained that quitting up is not an option.

As things are, it’s a little challenging when looking at paper and while looking at screens. However, it is the reason we play, why we represent the nation, and why the entire nation has put its faith in us to manage the nation’s football, so we cannot give up or declare that it is finished. Mensah was anxious.

Mensah is unwavering in his resolve, stressing that winning the next two games is a must despite the remote possibility of qualifying.

The only thing left to me is to win the games. There is nothing else we can do to explain why we failed to win our next two games. We must win those games if there is anything we can do about it. We must accomplish it, no matter how we go about it,” he declared.

Kickoff for Ghana’s game versus Angola is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time at the 11 de Novembro Stadium.
