Renowned Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame is contemplating a shift from rap as he ages, focusing instead on mastering the bamboo flute, or atentenben.

Recognizing that rap demands a lot of energy, he expressed concern about his inability to perform it actively in the future. In an interview on Quophi Okyeame’s “30 Questions” show, he revealed he has been learning the flute for the past four months.

“I’ve begun playing the atentenben because soon I’ll be old and weak, but I still want to create music. Rap is hard on the body. I imagine sitting and entertaining Europeans with my flute,” he quipped, noting his intention to include some drama and colorful costumes in his performances
