Otto Addo, the head coach of Ghana, has congratulated Sudan on their win over the Black Stars in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying tournament.
After a 0-0 tie in the first leg played at the Accra Sports Stadium, Sudan won 2-0 in the second game.
Addo expressed gratitude to the Ghana FA media for Sudan’s fervor and perseverance during the game.
“Sudan, congratulations. Before and after games, coach Kwesi Appiah has always conducted himself in a gentlemanly manner. I applaud them for their efforts because they gave a terrific performance and showed a lot of enthusiasm,” he said.
Addo was thankful for the unwavering support of his technical team, even though the results of both of the matches against Sudan were disappointing.
He shared that he had talked with his players following the game to highlight the value of looking forward.
“Despite the fact that the team’s effort was insufficient, I admire it. After a fruitful discussion, I had one-on-one conversations with the players to discuss particular incidents from the game. I hope you found those conversations useful. It was difficult to process, therefore it makes sense that everyone was depressed,” Addo thought.
In addition, he expressed gratitude to his technical staff for their unflinching support throughout this difficult time, saying, “We as Ghana should qualify for the AFCON.”
The Black Stars are currently in third place after four qualifying rounds, behind Angola and their next two qualifying matches are against Angola and Niger.
