Black Sherif pauses performance to advocate end to galamsey: 2024 Tidal Rave

Black Sherif Shakes Off Stress on 'Zero' With Mabel

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the Tidal Rave event was held in 2024. Black Sherif was among the many artists playing.

The performer stopped during his act to support the calls to end galamsey. On the stage’s enormous screen, a movie depicting a river that had become contaminated due to galamsey activities surfaced.

The film concluded with a building at Independence Square and the strong words “God Bless Ghana.” It also included clips from a recent anti-galamsey rally by some Ghanaians.

Truth Ofori, the second runner-up of Talented Kidz Season 15, also gave a live performance of the patriotic song “Yɛn ara asase ni” as a call to action for the leaders to combat the menace.

The audience gave Black Sherif applause and cheers for his patriotic performance.

In response, President Akufo-Addo revoked L.I. 2462, which prohibited mining in forest reserves. In order to put a halt to illicit mining operations, the president also gave the Defense Minister instructions to send additional troops to galamsey sites.
