NPP GENERAL SECRETARY SAYS THEY WILL ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF 2024 ELECTIONS WHATSOEVER

The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said that the party will accept the result of the December 7 elections, whatever the result is.

“I do think that the NPP will win the election, but if it doesn’t, I’ll be the first to accept this publicly and congratulate the winner,” Mr. Frimpong told a 13-member committee on rules about vigilantism and election violence of the National Peace Council in Accra on Tuesday.

“The NPP wants peace and will never do anything to disrupt or harm the peace and stability in the country,” he said.

He said the party has always supported peace, and that has not changed. He also said that no one has the right to ruin the country’s voting system.

It is in this regard that the committee paid a working visit to the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down, Accra, to have open and frank discussions on some of the concerns of the party ahead of the December polls.

The committee was created in 2020 to check if the rules and plan about vigilantism and related crimes are being followed.

However, it was halted due to financial issues and resumed on 3rd July 2024. It is led by Dr. Emma Birikorang from the Kofi Annan Peace Keeping Training Centre supported by another person. Its members come from the NPP, the NDC, National Security, Ghana Police Service, Electoral Commission, Institute for Democratic Governance, Small Arms Commission, Progressive People’s Party, Trades Union Congress, International Republican Institute, and West African Network for Peacebuilding. One of its mandates is to ascertain whether political parties are adhering to the code of conduct supported by both the NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress.
