Mr Gyamfi said the NDC would also look at import duties on industrial and agricultural vehicles and equipment. They will remove the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy on fuel to ease the burden of consumers. They will also reduce charges at the ports to cut the burden of importers and Ghanaians.
He said that would help do away with difficulties and lower the high cost of doing business in the country in the first 90 days of being in office.
He said this when the party showed its tax plans in the 2024 manifesto to the public in Winneba last Saturday. He further stated that the party will amend Ghana’s VAT regime to assist the family and business sector. That includes the backlink between GETFund and NHIL with VAT, the VAT registration limit to exclude small and micro-businesses, and the zero-rating of VAT on home electricity use.
He added that the NDC would also mobilise additional funds by broadening the tax base, addressing the leakages in tax collections, and reviewing exemptions on taxes to promote transparency in economic growth, technology transfer, and jobs creation.
‘The NDC desires to make a tax-friendly place that will help invigorate the economy, thereby alleviating the struggles Ghanaians go through’. Mr. Gyamfi said.
Vote NDC
He told them to vote strongly for the NDC, promising to effect change and create new jobs.
