Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasized that job creation for the youth will be a topmost priority of his administration if elected President.
Speaking during a media interview in Accra, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the significant actions made under the Akufo-Addo administration, which has created over 2.1 million jobs in the past seven years.
However, he recognized that there are still pressing issues of consideration regarding employment among the youth.
“There are many areas that we will tackle to ensure young people can secure jobs,” Dr. Bawumia said.
He prioritized the importance of fostering business growth as a means to increase employment opportunities, noting that his administration would introduce a range of motivations to support business expansion.
“We are looking at the growth of businesses which will lead to more hiring, and we have proposed a number of incentives to help businesses grow,” he explained.
Dr. Bawumia also outlined a comprehensive tax reform program designed to create a more favorable environment for businesses, including the implementation of a flat tax rate and tax amnesty.
Not forgetting the critical role of education and training, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the need to enhance investment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to better equip the youth with essential skills.
