Trump blames the US Women’s World Cup exit to Megan Rapinoe and wokeness.

After the US women’s national team was eliminated from the World Cup, former US President Donald Trump used the chance to criticise Megan Rapinoe and Joe Biden’s “woke” policies as the reasons for the defeat.

On his social media site, ” Truth Social,” Trump wrote: “The ‘shocking and totally unexpected’ loss by the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to the our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden. Many of our players were openly hostile to America – No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close. WOKE EQUALS FAILURE. Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA.”

Following the team’s defeat, more conservatives joined in, claiming the outcome was a reflection of their beliefs and perceived US criticism.

Megyn Kelly, a former Fox News personality, declared, “I’m thrilled they lost.” “You don’t support America, and I don’t support you.”

Kelly did not indicate how the US women’s football team does not support the country, but it’s conceivable that she was alluding to remarks made by Megan Rapinoe after the squad won the World Cup in 2019. Rapinoe said at the time, in reference to Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again,” “Maybe America is great for a few people right now, but it’s not great for enough Americans in this world.”

Kelly’s comments were general, but Trump explicitly criticised Rapinoe in his post for skipping a penalty in Sunday’s game. Although she wasn’t the first American player to do so, the football star has a tumultuous relationship with the former president.
