Numerous Ghanaian football fans have welcomed the news of Chris Hughton’s dismissal as head coach of the Black Stars, the country’s national team.
Following Ghana’s exit before the competition’s knockout stages, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced on Tuesday.
Hughton was given the job of reviving the team following a dismal World Cup performance in Qatar when he was named in January 2022. He was unable to guide the Black Stars to victory, though, as they were eliminated in the first round of the AFCON.
Reactions rolled in as Some online users expressed their agreement with the sack by posting on social media.

Hughton’s dismissal is not shocking considering how poorly the squad performed under his direction. The Black Stars have encountered difficulties in establishing their footing during matches, and the expectation to perform has grown. Hughton’s firing is perceived as an attempt to make amends for the GFA’s treatment of the team, which has drawn criticism.
There have already been a few names brought up as possible candidates, so it’s probable that the hunt for a new coach will start right away. Rebuilding the team and regaining the team’s standing as one of Africa’s leading football powers would be a difficult undertaking for whoever takes over the position.
