A tragic incident has rocked the Abrepo Asubonteng community in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region, leaving residents in shock and mourning.

An 8-year-old boy, Kwaku, was viciously murdered by a man believed to be mentally ill.

Speaking on the  Akoma 87.9 FM in Kumasi, eyewitnesses shared that the suspected madman, thought to be in his 30s, had come to the community with his family. The victim, Kwaku, and his sister were on their way back after buying a rubber bag when they encountered the man. While the sister managed to escape, Kwaku was caught and brutally murdered. Despite efforts from community members to intervene, they were intimidated by the madman, who was armed with two sharp cutlasses.

The police arrived at the scene but were initially unable to handle the situation and temporarily left. Unfortunately, this delay gave the madman the opportunity to carry out the horrific act.

In an unexpected twist, the community members eventually gathered the courage to confront the madman and, ultimately, ended up killing him

The bodies of both the victim and the perpetrator have been transported to the morgue at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
